How it works

The 90 million fans who use Bandsintown to discover shows and follow artists are some of the most engaged fans there are. Skip social media algorithms and drive sales and streams the smart way by targeting fans of similar artists with a Promoted Email campaign. It all happens in the Ad Manager.

PRO TIP

Save time and create campaigns for your events faster by clicking the Promote button next to the event from your Events page.

Choose from our expertly designed templates specifically for single events, tours, multiple events, festivals and more, or choose New Template to start from scratch.

First, specify your budget and the area(s) you want your campaign to target.

The geographical radius of your campaign will default to a 60-mile radius of the target location, but you may want to consider narrowing the radius in densely populated cities or broadening it for larger events or music or merch campaigns. For example, targeting an entire state or country for a festival may make more sense.

Next, define a few similar artists whose fans you'd like to target. Target all or as many of the main performing artists' fans you can within your budget, then add similar artists' fans on top. As a general rule, performing artists should always comprise at least 20% of your targeting criteria, and similar artists should never comprise more than 80%.

Emails to Send shows how many emails can be sent based on those targeting criteria and your specified budget, while the Max number shows how many emails could potentially be sent with unlimited budget.

Expand or reduce the radius or add more locations by clicking Add Audience.

Lastly, review your campaign details including budget, targeting, and scheduled send time, add a promo code if you have one, and click Submit Order or save the campaign as a draft to work with later.

Content tab: Customize the layout of your email with preset structures which can be populated by dragging and dropping blocks for images or videos, text, buttons, ticket links, social links, spacers, HTML code and more. Smart blocks auto-populate your content like event listings as well as merch, music, and more.

AI Writing Support is available to help you write compelling copy easily and can be found under the Text section of the Blocks header of the Content tab.

Smart blocks offer an easy way to integrate your Bandsintown event listings, streaming and social links, and press photos into your emails with one click.

For example, to add your event listings, click and drag the My Events smart block into the body of the email to automatically populate your event listings, merch offerings,

Your event listings will also auto-populate in your email if you selected the Tour email template in Step 01.

Once you’re happy with the look and feel of your campaign, you can use the Preview or Send Test buttons to see how it will look to fans, the Save button to pick up where you left off later, or Continue to review your campaign order and schedule it to be sent.
